Disabled Zones
Designated disabled, wheelchair-accessible parking zones are available throughout the CBD and Multi-storey car park
Disabled permits must be displayed while using a disabled parking zone.
Free Disability Parking in Burnie changes from Oct 2023:
- The free parking is limited to the existing Designated Disability Zones only. If you hold a disability permit and you are not within a designated disability zone, you will still need to pay for parking as per normal.
- The stated timeframes on the parking signage still apply.
- If you are parking in the designated disability zones in the Multi-Storey Car park, you will need to ensure that you exit the car park before 6.30pm (before the ticket booth closes) to avoid being charged the exit fee.
Permanent permit applications are available from Service Tasmania and temporary permit applications are available through Council.

There are several spaces assigned as taxi zones.

Loading Zones
Loading zones are provided to assist commercial vehicles in the delivery of goods for nearby businesses.
The State Government has legislation that determines who can use loading zones. See the loading zone criteria for details on usage.
Truck Zones
In April 2024, the Council voted to convert two CBD loading zones to "Truck Zones" during business hours. This is to enable couriers in large trucks two areas that are exclusively available for them to deliver and not have to wait for a loading zone to become available or are unable to use a normal metered bay due to size.
Acceptable vehicles to utilise these truck zone areas are trucks and very large vans with a GVM over 4.5 tonnes.
The 2 zones are:
- Mount Street outside Sportspower and
- Wilson Street outside Cotton On.
Overlength Vehicle Parking
Facilities to park oversized vehicles including RV, Caravan, Motor home, Bus or Trailer.
Motorcycle parking
There is a Free designated parking zone on North Terrace near the surfclub.
Motorbikes may also utilise parking spaces on our streets and off-street parking, including the Marine Terrace Multi-Storey Car Park. One or more motorcycles may park in a designated marked space for the applicable fee.
