First Lego League Burnie Regional

The FIRST Lego League Somerset Regional will be hosted at Somerset Primary School on Saturday, the 11th of November.

There are a number of important volunteer roles to fill, many of these require limited to no technical skills/knowledge or previous experience and there's plenty of support and training available, there's even some roles suitable for children aged 13 or over.

All volunteers over the age of 16 must have a current WWVP registration. Volunteers can sign up at either www.bit.ly/fllsomerset or by registering a volunteer account directly at www.firstaustralia.systems. Volunteers will be provided with a free lunch and t-shirt.

We're also looking for some food and coffee trailers that may be interested at being on site for the day. At least 200 people will be in attendance throughout the day, with the event also open to community.

17 teams from public and private schools (grades 4-10) from all over the NW and West Coasts will compete in a robot game using Lego robots that they've designed, built and programmed. As well they will be presenting innovative projects they've researched and developed combining art and technology to encourage participation in a chosen hobby. 10 trophies are up for grabs with the top 5 teams overall qualifying for the National Championships South, which will be held in Ulverstone later this year.
