Every year on 5 May, we take a moment to celebrate midwives and the amazing work they do to support mums, babies, and families.

 

This year’s theme — “Midwives: Critical in Every Crisis” — reminds us how important midwives are, especially in tough times like natural disasters, health emergencies, or conflict. They’re often the first to step up and provide calm, expert care when it’s needed most.

 

We’d like to send a big thank you to every midwife across Tasmania for your dedication, skill and kindness. You make a real difference every day.

 

Let’s take this chance to recognise the impact of midwives and show our appreciation for the vital role they play in our communities.
