Important Safety Information

All TasRail’s rail yards are part of a busy working freight railway. Please ensure your Christmas Light viewing is done from safe, public areas outside of TasRail’s land corridor.

Did you know…Between July 2018 and June 2024, Tasmania recorded eight collisions and 311 near misses at level crossings. Poor choices by road users were the main cause, with the north-west seeing incidents rise from 31 to 42 in 2023-24. These events affect not only those involved but also train drivers, families, and emergency services.

Consider the families impacted by these incidents—always exercise caution at level crossings.
