The Role

We are seeking a seasoned generalist for the role Manager of People and Safety at Council to lead and deliver People and Safety initiatives that support a culture of excellence and empower employees across all levels.

Leading a small team of dedicated HR and Safety professionals and administrative staff, you will touch on all aspects of people practice of the People & Safety business unit including providing hands-on leadership, guidance, and mentorship to deliver contemporary HR and Safety services and practices in line with Council’s ‘People Strategy 2024 – 2028’.

The position will play a critical role, offering sound and pragmatic HR advice, coaching, and support to leaders and employees across the organisation. You will partner closely with Council’s Leaders to deliver people solutions, driving positive business outcomes through effective people management to support, grow and maintain a constructive and safe workplace culture.

 

About You

You will be adept at offering contemporary and sound HR advice, with expertise across areas such as recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and policy development.

With a high level of emotional intelligence and excellent communication skills, your strong interpersonal skills will allow you to build trust and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. You are a natural leader with previous experience managing teams, or a desire to develop your leadership capabilities.  Having a genuine passion for helping people to reach their potential through capability, capacity and confidence will set you apart in this role.
