The Parks and Reserves team at Council is known for the pride they take in maintaining, operating, and constructing the City’s parks, reserves, and recreation facilities.
We are looking for a trainee to join the Parks and Reserves team. If successful you will receive paid, on the job training whilst studying towards a nationally accredited Certificate III in Horticulture over a 3-year period.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Garden and grounds maintenance
- Mulch, prune, pot and water plants
- Use of garden tools, plant and machinery
- Maintenance of irrigation systems
- Brush cutting and mowing
- Pest and weed control, minor landscaping works
- Assisting with the maintenance of sporting grounds
- Liaison with supervisors and other team members
Skills and Knowledge
- Enjoy working in the outdoors and working with garden tools
- Be committed, reliable and hardworking
- Display initiative, manage and prioritise time and tasks effectively
- Work effectively in a team and have good communication skills
- Have a can-do attitude, displaying initiative
