The Parks and Reserves team at Council is known for the pride they take in maintaining, operating, and constructing the City’s parks, reserves, and recreation facilities. 

We are looking for a trainee to join the Parks and Reserves team. If successful you will receive paid, on the job training whilst studying towards a nationally accredited Certificate III in Horticulture over a 3-year period.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Garden and grounds maintenance
  • Mulch, prune, pot and water plants
  • Use of garden tools, plant and machinery
  • Maintenance of irrigation systems
  • Brush cutting and mowing
  • Pest and weed control, minor landscaping works
  • Assisting with the maintenance of sporting grounds
  • Liaison with supervisors and other team members

Skills and Knowledge

  • Enjoy working in the outdoors and working with garden tools
  • Be committed, reliable and hardworking
  • Display initiative, manage and prioritise time and tasks effectively
  • Work effectively in a team and have good communication skills
  • Have a can-do attitude, displaying initiative
