An exciting Gateway for Burnie has been chosen

At the November Council Meeting, Council approved to proceed with the installation of the detailed design submission “Welcome Gesture” by David Hamilton and Geoff Farquhar-Still.
“The gateway will signal the next exciting chapter in Burnie’s story as a step towards creating a new vision for the city’s future, for our local community and for our visitors.”
-Mayor Teeny Brumby-
This is exciting!
With thanks to the State Government for funding $1.25 million into the pataway/Burnie Gateway Project, this gateway is set to enhance and improve the entrance to our city for locals and visitors alike.
It can be subjective because we are all people with different tastes and preferences.
This Gateway will be poles apart from what we've ever had. It will stand out. It will be yellow and bold and yep, subjective. But it will be ours. It will be part of Burnie.
It will become the talking point for directions. "When your heading West - turn right at the Yellow sculpture, a great town to stop and grab some lunch".
A Welcome Gesture.
The concept design will now undergo a final approval process by the Department of State Growth, with planned installation to commence in the new year, utilising local providers where possible.
