Council has approved the consultant engineers final designs for the remediation works for Fernglade Road. Moving forward into the next stage, these works will be shortly be advertised for Tender - with work to commence in the coming months.

Council have reviewed a preliminary design from consultant engineers. The proposal has been endorsed for final design and the project will more ahead under the 2023- 2024 capital Works program where $7.5 million has been allocated to repair the significant road damage caused by the October 2022 rain event across the region.

Fernglade Road - Road Open Single Lane Only
Fernglade Road has been subject to a fill batter failure caused by excessive water in the rain event of October 2022.
Evaluation of gathered geotechnical information is nearing completion and a number of solutions are being considered,
Potential solutions are:
- Gabion retaining wall
- Reinforced concrete retaining wall
- Contiguous piled retaining wall
- New road via an alternate route
Each potential solution is yet to be fully evaluated and costed and restrictions on Fernglade Road will stay in place until further notice.
