Burnie Library has re-opened to the public today, Tuesday 5 November, at 9:30 am after closing for repairs in mid-September. The after-hours returns chute has re-opened from 1st November 2024.

Full library services will resume from today. This includes access to collections, holds, public computers, newspapers and events.

The library will also welcome back families for the popular Rock and Rhyme and Storytime activities for kids on Wednesday 6 November from 10:30 am with other regular programs commencing the following week. The Library Bean Cafe is open too and would love to see you return for a coffee, cake or lunch.

Libraries Tasmania is grateful for the support of Burnie City Council, which shared their facilities at the Burnie Regional Museum during the library closure.

The pop-up library at Burnie Regional Museum closed on Friday, 1 November, at 4:00 pm as these services recommence from Burnie Library.

Penguin Library also temporarily extended its operating hours to support library members unable to attend the Burnie Library. From Monday 4 November, Penguin Library will return to its normal operating hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Burnie Library said: "We thank you for being patient and understanding while we restored our building and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Burnie Library."

Burnie Library will host a celebration day on 13th November encouraging you to return to the library with lucky draw prizes and fun activities.

For further information regarding the re-opening or the celebration day please call the Burnie Library Manager on 0439 856 218
