Council is livestreaming its meetings
Published on 15 August 2022
Council is now livestreaming video and audio of our Council Meetings, and other civic events that occur in the Council Chamber.
The first occasion for the July meeting was extremely well received with 249 views of the livestream on the night! On the days that followed there were another 179 views of the recording! As our very first Digital Transformation project, the Council is pleased with the take up for the new service which provides a greater level of access for the community to participate in Council meetings while enabling a greater level of transparency by the community witnessing first-hand the Council’s decision making process.
The open portion of Council meeting is broadcast live online at: webcast.burnie.tas.gov.au
Initial feedback was that the sound quality was excellent. Some feedback indicated a few viewers had trouble with their internet service resulting in the livestream buffering or pausing on the night. To assist viewers there is a help page on our website with frequently asked questions. We have also set up an online survey so that you can tell us about your livestream experience so that we can continue to improve our service.
