Why does Burnie Council have a Facebook page?

Burnie City Council’s Facebook page serves to provide information on Council initiatives, events, programs, and news. It is a key tool for engaging with the community, facilitating discussions, enquiries, and the exchange of ideas.

Burnie City Council’s Social Media Policy includes ‘house rules’ for participants when commenting on posts. These rules ensure a respectful and constructive online environment:
  • No harassment, abuse, or threats.
  • No offensive comments, especially regarding race, age, gender, sexuality, political views, religion, or disability.
  • No obscene or offensive language.
  • No repetitive comments.
  • No spam, commercial interests, or endorsements of non-governmental agencies.
