Landfill Levy

The Landfill Waste Levy is a State Government charge collected by councils to fund waste management programs and support a circular economy in Tasmania.
From 1 July 2022 the Landfill Levy incorporates a staggered introduction over 4 years,starting at $20 per tonne and rising to $40 and then $60 at 2 yearly intervals.
The money raised through the levy is being reinvested in Tasmania’s recycling, composting, resource recovery services, facilities and infrastructure, resulting in less waste in landfill.
