Enhanced online payment solutions

As part of the introduction of our Digital Transformation Strategy last year, our community told us that they wanted us to improve how and when they can transact with us.  We are all busy and overwhelmingly we were told that our community wants to be able to deal with us online, on any device, from anywhere, and at any time.

While we remain committed to continuing to provide new services online, we wanted to let you know of number of online payment and digital solutions that we have introduced, to make it for you – our customers:

Dog Renewals - Lifetime Tags

You no longer need to pay your dog renewal at the Council offices!

After the introduction of lifetime tags last year, dog renewals have now been sent out in the post and the renewal fee can now be paid online.  Don’t forget that a discount period applies for registrations received by 30 August 2024. Scan the QR code on your renewal notice or visit the Council’s website for more information:  Dog Registration.

Infringements

If you have overstayed your allotted timeframe in areas of high parking demand and received a ticket, you can now view the photos of your infringement and pay online on the Council’s website at: Infringement

Food Business Renewals

This year, the majority of food business renewals have been sent via email to consenting food businesses. You can complete your renewal application and payment electronically by following the steps provided in the email. If you haven’t received this email – don’t forget to check your junk mail folder. It's important to renew your food business license before July 31 at: Food Business

Rates

We now offer a service where your rates notices can be viewed and printed from an online portal.  Set up an online account to get started – the link to which is on the Council’s website: Rates

Did you know that you can make rates payments anytime to make budgeting easier? This is ideal for those who prefer weekly or fortnightly payments over lump sum instalments. Give our new online rates calculator a try to determine your regular payment amounts.

If you would prefer to not have to remember to make the payments frequently, you can also set up a BPAY regular payment that will come directly from your bank account in the frequency that you determine.  Your bank can assist you to do this if you would prefer this method.

Cashier Hours

Cashier hours are from 8:45 am to 4:45 pm Monday – Friday.  We are closed on public holidays.

For other payment methods for Council services, check out our website: Payment Options

Digital Literacy and Support

Digital literacy is a life skill we need to talk to friends on social media, share our photos, shop online, apply for jobs, use electronic banking, and fill in government forms. If you don't have access to a computer or the internet, there are support services available to help you gain access and learn digital skills:   Digital-Support

Translation Support

Are you someone, or do you know of someone, that speaks a language other than English and would benefit from assistance to access Council services?  A translator can be provided through the TIS National Translation and Interpreter Service by contacting 131 450, or by accessing the service online: Free-Interpreting-Service-TIS

Please state our organisation as the Burnie City Council and quote our phone number as 03 6430 5700.
