The Community Grants Program enables Council to support a diverse range of activities, services, programs and events that are responsive to the community’s needs.

This year, Council have incorporated the Major Events Expressions of Interest (EOI), to now sit within the Community Grants Program. This will allow our community to have a clearer idea as to which grant stream is suitable for them and their community group.

This program aims to bring a broad range of benefits and value to the community by promoting new and creative experiences and opportunities.  The Council is keen to partner with community groups and organisations to deliver community events that provide activation, connectedness and vibrancy for our city. Whatever your idea – we would love to hear from you!

Funding for the Community Grants Program will be provided in four (4) grant streams:

to assist community, arts and cultural organisations in delivering programs and smaller events (where funding is capped), and to assist with the purchase of equipment for their community initiative that betters the City of Burnie.

Environmental Grants

to assist community groups to undertake work or projects that deliver environmental outcomes that benefit Burnie.

Two options are available

  • Annual funding (Maintenance, Major Events, Environmental and Community Grants)
  • Multi-year funding (Community Grants, Major Events and Environmental streams) offered for 1 to 3 years
