PROJECT UPDATES

17 April 2025

Oonah road is open.

Works to replace the Guide River Bridge on Oonah Road have been completed.

The section of road is still to be sealed, resulting in traffic speed limits being reduced to 40km/h. Contractors will be back onsite in early May to complete these works.

We ask that all road users please adhere to the reduced speed limits until then.

We thank the community (especially the Tewkesbury community) for your patience during these works.

19 March 2025

Oonah Road (between Guide Road and the Quarry) will be closed to all traffic from Monday 31 March to early May 2025 to complete the bridge replacement.

We kindly ask that all road users adhere to the detour until these works are completed.

Council appreciates that this project does negatively impact on local residents who would otherwise use the road. If any residents have any further queries, please contact Council at burnie@burnie.tas.gov.au or phone 6430 5700.
