What to do if you find Sick, Injured, or Orphaned Wildlife

  1. Keep the animal warm, dark, and quiet.
  2. Do not feed it—this can cause harm.
  3. Minimize handling to reduce stress.
  4. Keep it away from people and pets.

 

Next Steps

  • A trained rescuer will contain the animal and transport it for assessment.
  • It may be placed with a wildlife rehabilitator.
  • Community members may occasionally assist with temporary care.

 

How to Help

  • Donate to organizations like Wildcare Tasmania and WIRES.
  • Make pouches or nest boxes through the Animal Rescue Cooperative (ARC).
  • Become a Wildlife Rescuer: Bonorong offers free training.
