Dog Zones

Council has declared areas where dogs can run off-lead, where they’re restricted on-lead and where they are not allowed, following community input and the rules of the Dog Control Act 2000.

Footnotes:

  1. Off-lead Allowed: Dogs must be under effective control at all times. 
  2. Prohibited South Burnie areas: North of the Coastal Pathway and West of Boat Ramp (between the Burnie Port, Yacht Club and the boat ramp)
  3. Prohibited Coastal Pathway section at Waterfront: prohibited in sections north of the rail corridor, from the West Beach Boardwalk through to the eastern end of the Port (Hilder Parade)
  4. Prohibited in Fernglade Reserve: This includes the entire riverside area, picnic zones, pathways, and the river itself, from the bridge to protect native flora and fauna as per the Nature Conservation Act 2002.
