Burnie Council provides a Rates Pension Remission (rebate) to help eligible pensioners with discounted council rates. This government concession offers financial assistance to ease the financial strain for low-income seniors.
To be eligible for the discount, the ratepayer must be the registered owner, live at the property, and on 1 July each year hold either a Services Australia or DVA Pensioner Concession Card endorsed with TPI or War Widow (DVA).
2025-26 financial year applications are now closed
Applications will open again for the 2026-27 financial year on 1 July 2026.
