Why Volunteer?
A celebrated fact of Burnie’s Cruise Ship history is the passion, energy and commitment shown by our Volunteers. These attributes have contributed to a long-lasting impression of Burnie for Cruise Ships visitors and delivered a gold-class customer experience on behalf of the City.
Volunteering allows people to connect to their community and to make it a better place. New, existing and former volunteers are encouraged to attend and to share their past experiences.
What type of skills do I need to be a volunteer? The most valuable skills a person can bring to any volunteer effort are compassion, an open mind, a willingness to do whatever is needed, and a positive attitude. Volunteers will be provided with appropriate induction and orientation to the activity they will be involved in.
Do Volunteers get paid for their service? Volunteers do not receive any form of remuneration for their service. Volunteering is a contribution of time, effort and talent without financial gain. Council recognises its volunteers through a dedicated “Volunteer Thank You” function each year.
